In an electrifying encounter at the 1919 Sportz Cricket Stadium in Goa, Gurugram Thunders clinched a dramatic five‑wicket victory over Maharashtra Tycoons in the 7th match of the World Legends Pro T20 League 2026. The Thunders successfully chased down a challenging target of 200 runs, finishing on 200 for 5 with 3 balls to spare, after being set a competitive total by the Tycoons.
Maharashtra Tycoons posted a formidable 199 for 7 in their 20 overs, powered by a blistering 83‑run innings from Sarul Kanwar who struck 6 fours and 7 sixes off just 36 deliveries, giving his side a solid platform. Contributions from Shaun Marsh’s 52 helped the Tycoons build a daunting total.
In response, Gurugram Thunders kept pace with the required run‑rate, thanks largely to an impactful 74 from Chirag Gandhi off 43 balls. Gandhi’s aggressive strokeplay included seven fours and three sixes, steering the chase with composure. Thisara Perera chipped in with a quick 25 to accelerate the run‑scoring in the latter stages.
The Thunders’ bowlers set the tone early by containing the Tycoons’ batting lineup, but the chase was always in the balance until Gandhi’s crucial partnership helped tilt the game in their favour. The victory marks a key moment for Gurugram in the early part of the league, bouncing back after earlier setbacks and showcasing the depth of their batting lineup.
Chirag Gandhi’s match‑winning knock earned him the Player of the Match award as Gurugram Thunders climbed the points table with this memorable win.
